Where should Start or End Dates not be Set and Why? (2:41)

Explanation:

You should not set start or end dates on modules within MyCourses. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, why do you want to restrict the content from the students? Remember that setting the dates on modules does not mean the those start or end dates will cacasde down to the individual content within the module. If you have dropboxes, discussion topics, or quizzes within a module, you will still need to set the start or end dates on these individual items so why are you doing extra work. Second, if you set start or end dates on modules and also on the individual dropboxes, discussion topics, or quizzes, you can sometimes have conflicting dates on each. This means the students will believe they do not have access to the dropboxes, discussion topics, or quizzes within the Content area. However, they can still access them via the Submission Review area. Setting Due dates on modules will not casuse a problem because a due date never restricts the student access to the items within a module.
